The simplicity of a line that meanders around creates a dramatically bold and pleasing effect. "Yin" and "Yang" are a play of positive and negative space. Used to gather as curtains and upholstery they balance and define a modern design scheme while the elegant directness of form and color is a wonderful foil for traditional rooms individually.
I always think of linen as the landed gentry of fabrics. It transverses social stratifications of design mingling comfortably with the most aristocratic of silk jacquards and velvets but is equally at ease in the most humble company of cottons and wools.
In our contemporary world it is delightful element in rooms that combine silk, wool, cotton, and leather where the defining quality of each - texture, hand and refraction of light, richness or humbleness play off against each other in complimentary ways.
Oh my.....it's just all so fabulously democratic! |
