THE PROCESS OF MAKING LUN-TAYA ACHEIK (silk tapestry)
Approximately 200 shuttles are manipulated back and forth through a warp of overmore than 1500 threads to create sublime designs, such as this interlocking tapestry weave, which is known as Lun-Taya Acheik.
With two persons operating a single loom, they manage to weave a few centimeters (1-2 inchs) daily to create intricate this horizontal weave pattern.
Specific designs are know by such names as Ribbon of Orchids, Princess' Curl, Emerald Palace Spring, Twisted Golden Rope and Floral Twined Royal Weave.
