| THE PROCESS OF MAKING LUN-TAYA ACHEIK (silk tapestry) |
Approximately 200 shuttles are manipulated back and forth through a warp of overmore than 1500 threads to create sublime designs, such as this interlocking tapestry weave, which is known as Lun-Taya Acheik. |
With two persons operating a single loom, they manage to weave a few centimeters (1-2 inchs) daily to create intricate this horizontal weave pattern. |
Specific designs are know by such names as Ribbon of Orchids, Princess' Curl, Emerald Palace Spring, Twisted Golden Rope and Floral Twined Royal Weave. |
