Blessing Banner 7x 0.5m Silk
QTY: 1

We stumbled over this trove of heritage and antique cotton and silk textiles, made by the T'ai Dam ethnic minority, high in the hinterlands of Laos. They are perfectly suited as table runners, pillow cases, or as throw blankets. Many date back a hundred years, while the newest are at least a couple generations old.
Our textiles, from Nong Boua Village, Luang Namtha Province, are all hand spun and loomed, using natural dye colours, and manually woven.

Bed Valance 5.5 x 30cm
These "runners" were originally fashioned as bed cornice, or valance, running along all sides of the mattress. Made by sewing individual cotton and silk strips into panels, the result is exquisitely beautiful, varying from vibrant coloration to muted hues. These are typically hemmed with a silk edging.
By contrast, appliqued geometric shapes are hand woven borders originally used on mosquito netting. Typically black to dark indigo and blue, they are hand-spun cotton. These especially lend themselves as scatter pillow covers.
